Character Design: The King of Rain

First off, the King of Rain is a character from the aforementioned story that I... aforementioned?... in a comment on this blog a while back. He's not a main character by any means, but I like him... so enjoy.

Name: the King of Rain (he can't remember his real name.)
Physical features: He is over eight feet tall. Very slender, but not skinny. His long black hair is always matted down and looks soaking wet. His clothes are always drab and dark. He also has perfect posture. :)
Quirks: Because he loves the rain so much and because the rain loves him, he has the ability to summon the rain at anytime and anywhere. Also, because he loves the rain so much he has taken on some of the characteristics of rain and that is why he cannot remember a vast majority of things. He has a notebook with him to help him remember, but he sometimes forgets that he has the notebook. He was also given a tablet of stone by his mother (he can't remember her name) that was imbued with a remembering spell. Anything that is carved on the stone tablet, he will never forget, but he forgets that he has that too. The only thing he can remember (without the aid of the remembering tablet) is his love of the rain and the rain remembers that it loves him.

Just to begin this, I really want to read that story now.

And also, you mentioned the other night that you thought that perhaps it should be 'King of the Rain'- but (I might have said this already, eh, oh well) I like 'King of Rain' it kind of stands out, and it makes the rain more personified, which from his view, would seem extremely appropriate.

I had something else to say... what was it... Oh yes, the story behind his love for the rain and his memory could either be really sad or really funny, I would like to hear that story too. And also, has his memory always been bad, or did something happen to make it bad?

I can give you the story of his bad memory without ruining the rest of the story.

It's his love of the rain that is to blame for his lack of memory. He is very old and he has had this "affair" with the rain for nearly a millennium! From the vast amount of time he has spent with the rain, thinking of the rain and even dreaming of the rain, he has begun to take on the aspects of the rain. The core aspect being that rain has no memory. It cannot tell you if it fell on your shoulder yesterday or last week, it just knows that it fell. He has become the exact same way.

Oh, and by the way, his story is a tragic one.

Oh jeez, I remember you telling me about the whole taking on the characteristics-of-the-rain thing. My bad... A dur dur dur.

I kind of have a character like that, with the whole "it just knows that it fell," but his problem is that he is precognitious and 'lives' visions. By such, he can't tell whether something happened, is happening, or will happen. But he knows that it did at some point or will. It makes it very confusing when he finds someone new, he tends to ask something like, "Did we meet tomorrow or yesterday?"

And I hope that you're writing this story, tragic or not, out somewhere. Besides, tragic ones are usually the most meaningful.

Yeah, especially when it's part of your psyche... did I spell that right?... I can't remember. :)

I suppose it is rather humorous/ironic (your pick) that I forgot about his picking.

And we'll just say you spelled it right, because I think it is and am too lazy to double check. In fact, I'm like 98% sure. Woah. That percent sign looks strange.
